Experiences with television and cable news

"Most of the time when I turned on the news I couldn’t even pay attention after I laid eyes on that man’s forehead". I talked for forty minutes with my mom on what her thoughts of news and television are and what they were, and if I wouldn't have stopped her we would still be talking. My mom has worked for the Cincinnati Enquirer for nineteen years. News has always been her life, and before it was my mom traveled the world with my dad as he was in the Navy. Because of her travel and my dad being in the Navy, she was always watching the news for updates on international conflicts or for just the weather in her new home that week. My mom sounded so passionate when she was talking about the new, understandably, and when I asked what she thought of it now she paused before saying "I feel disgusted t what is considered news currently". She later explained that especially in this last election not only are people coming out with stories that are made up and lies, but...

No technology for 12 hours

 As I sat my phone on my desk I felt the stress of constantly checking my email, seeing if I had texts, and checking social media lift off my shoulders, is what no one says this day and age. It took three times to finally walk away from my phone and turn it off. The first time I tried, I walked back into my room and out of instinct I picked my phone up, and checked Instagram. It took me about twenty minutes to realize what I had done. The second time I simply gave in to temptation after just two hours. I finally shut the screen off and put it out of sight. For most of the day I sat in my dorm doing homework and getting my readings done. The best part that came out of the project was I have my readings done for the next two weeks of my classes. Everything seemed to be going well till I had decided to go out with some friends. As we sat at dinner everyone was on their phones and talking about so and so's Snapchat story. I felt left out at moments and that I was missing something....
